Among the missing features of the Open Source LePatron email builder, there was one that was sorely lacking. One that you regularly asked us for. One that could save you an incredible amount of time when creating your emails. In short, one you're going to love: custom block saving.
Also known as custom blocks or customized blocks. This sweet dream is now a reality. It gives us great pleasure and emotion to announce this new version of the LePatron email builder. Yalaaa!
Create and save your customized blocks
Take an existing block from your template. Add content: text, images, links. Modifying styles : colors, sizes, position, margins, typography, buttons...
Save it. It will be saved in a dedicated library. You can then use it in all your other creations.
Your library of personalized blocks
Depending on the number of users and/or the number of blocks available in your template, you're likely to have a rich library of saved blocks.
It was therefore essential to link the recording of saved blocks to a dedicated library so that you could find them easily.
You can search for three essential elements:
- the block name
- the block description
- the author's name block
You'll need to get organized as a team. All the more so if your teams are numerous and changeable. For example: set up naming conventions for block names, systematically insert a date, use words like "latest version". In short, jointly find a way of naming your blocks so that all users can find their way around.

Organize and manage your blocks
Indeed, it could quickly become a huge, disorganized library. Both in the number and names of your blocks and in the visual rendering. Imagine a user creating a block that doesn't or no longer conform to your brand's graphic charter.
Group administrators have a few additional options: "with great power comes great responsibility".
They will have full powers to :
- rename blocks
- change description
- delete blocks
LePatron, an Open Source email builder first and foremost
As you no doubt know, we're committed to providing an independent tool that's open to all.
So the Patron development model is different from the rest of the email builders market, since we've decided to publish our project as OpenSource. In other words, anyone (with the right skills) can get their hands on the code and use it without having to pay Badsender.
